George Wins with an Amazing Streak of Seven Birdies

George was two strokes over par with only seven holes to go when he started his awesome turnaround. After birdies on holes 3 through 9, George finished the day in first and improved his Championship standing to 4th place. Only four months ago George was 11th, but two tournament wins have moved him way up the ladder.

Hal shot even par (two down with handicap) to finish in second. Bryan finished third and is now alone in 2nd place on the ladder. Rob and Jim took extra points by finishing 4th and 5th, respectively.

With just one more tournament to go, Jack continues to hold first place in the Club Championship. Bryan and Jim are still within reach, but it won’t be easy. Be sure to come out in December as we finish the Championship race and award trophies to the top contenders.

Jim Wins His Third Monthly of 2008

Jim shot a birdie free round on a very wind day and still managed to finish best of the eight golfers on Saturday morning. No one had a score to brag about on this frustrating day. The round started with very little wind, but after only a few holes, it began to kick up and play tricks on nearly every drive. Bryan’s six birdies was the most of the day and earned him second place after he beat Hal in a throw-off. So Hal was third, followed by point leader Jack, then George.

With only two more tournaments before the end of the year, the club championship race is nearing an end. Jack continues to lead the club with 33 points, but Bryan and Jim are close behind with 29 points each. Del, with 22 points, is the only other player who has a chance at winning if he has an impressive showing at each of the next two tournaments.

Felix Wins September Tournament!

After 27 holes of golf, the victor was determined by a throw off between Felix and Jack. Felix beat the current championship point leader to claim first place in the September tournament. Jack, therefore, finished second and Del followed in third. Club newcomer, Hal Horn, finished in fourth place with an excellent showing that included several long drives. Steve Klein II finished in fifth and was joined by his father for the tournament.

Jack Still Leading Club Championship!

I’ve got the scorecards, updated the stats and have done everything EXCEPT post it on the website. So, here’s the news: Jack is still leading the pack with 25 champion points. Bryan has moved into second, bumping Jim to 3rd place. Del and John are tied for fourth. Marie has been making a climb in the championship points and is now tied with George for 6th place. And Steve is in seventh.

There are several other players who we haven’t seen in a while and a couple new players. I hope we have a crowd for this Saturday’s Tournament that starts at 8:30 a.m. I will have the handicaps and complete standings with me, but I may not have time to update the website pages until after the tournament.

Course Pretty Much Closed!!

All skip to baskets have been pulled due to Police Motorcycle contest and Kids Triathalon this weekend. 1, 2, 3, & 8 are the only baskets in ground. 3 is really unplayable due to RV parked there. Good thing tournament was played last weekend.Keep ‘em flyin’

Tee Pads Marked…….but…..

Hole 4 medium by parking lot marked but the sprinklers were on……Hole 5 medium ground to silty for marking so there is a shoe drag line. Painted spot on concrete border of track nearby. Forgot I have winner’s mini. Winner will get it in Sept. Someone ought to get out there early to make sure all grass tees are still marked. Not sure of sprinkler schedule.Enjoy, and Keep ‘em flyin’

August Monthly Tournament This Saturday, August 16th!

The monthly tournament will be played this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. We will continue with the 27-hole format that we have been playing all summer. In the future, anytime that a monthly tournament is canceled due to another park event, the Chainracker’s monthly will be rescheduled to the following weekend. This seems fairest to everyone and is consistent with past practice by the club (thanks for the reminder, Tim).

So, now we need someone to volunteer to serve as tournament director for the event this weekend. Tasks include: collecting money, make payouts, collecting for the ace pool, checking scores w/ handicaps, and return all of the score cards to me. Note: It is critical that all cards are returned to me after the event! I will get the volunteer all that is needed for the day including the current handicaps and Bryan’s ace pool money. Call me at 916-833-9595 if you can do this.

UPDATE: Bryan Becker will be tournament director for the day! Please see Bryan to pay for entry on Saturday and to get your handicap. Handicaps will also be updated on this website before the tournament. Thanks Bryan.

Monthly Cancelled!!!!

Due to the Fire Muster at the park this weekend, the baskets are going to be pulled. Rescheduling for a future weekend is always a possibility. Please respond to this notice of cancellation so it is known that you are aware of it. Also, pick one of the future Saturdays, (16th, 23rd, 30th or Sept.6th) that will fit best into your schedule for a Chainracker monthly. Majority rules!! Until then–Keep ‘em flyin’

Jack Leads the Club Championship

Well, I’ve finally updated the Championship standing on the website to include the June and July tournament results. After garnishing his second victory of 2008, Jack moved to the top of the leaderboard with 23 points for the season. Jim dropped to second followed by Bryan Becker. John and Del share 4th place.
