Jack Wins March, But Loses the High Handicap!
The March monthly tournament was held this morning, and new member Jack dominated play with a score of 49. With his handicap, Jack easily took the top payout. Of course, his great round of golf had a big impact on his handicap. Jack’s SUB 1 handicap has quickly dropped to an ADD 4, tied for second best handicap in the club. By the way, you can check out the current handicaps on the handicap page.
George also carded a 49, but with his handicap he finished tied with Clay for second. Clay and George played hole one for the tie breaker, and Clay birdied to claim second place. Clay improved his handicap by two strokes with his excellent play today. Felix and Bryan Becker took extra points for fourth and fifth places, respectively.
The most amazing golfing news from the day had to be the debut of 9-year old Micaela, playing in her first club monthly. Micaela, Clay’s oldest daughter, played the monthly to establish a handicap. She shot an awesome round of 87 to earn a SUB 26 handicap. Even though Micaela is only9 years old, we have had three other members who’ve had higher handicaps. Micaela scored her first disc golf par when she topped off a beautiful drive and upshot with a 10 foot putt on hole four. Even Micaela’s worse score of the day was only a six, with an OB penalty. Congratulations Micaela!
Nine players showed up for today’s tournament and were welcomed by the most pleasant day for golfing in several months. Several players were away at other golfing events. We are hoping for a bigger turnout next month as the good weather appears to be back.
